Keep Portland weird

Keep Portland weird! It sure lived upto its expectations.

I must say Portland is a land of trees, and you get amazed by seeing so many different colors of trees orange tree, purple tree, red tree, and brown tree. Trees make the city looks so beautiful. In Portland, people live by what their heart desires. You will find all color houses in one lane and a modern-looking place right in the middle, which you only see a little. I appreciate it when you listen to your heart and do what it desires. Just Love it. Visiting Portland was always on my bucket list, and when you want something this bad, mother nature gets to work and makes it happen.

Multnomah Falls
Upon arrival, we went straight to Multnomah falls, and we had to stick to our plan to cover the majority of places. Multnomah falls is located on Interstate 84 off exit 31, very close to the airport, and luckily, there were only a few people early in the morning. The total hike to fall is about 5.4 miles, and a decent walk is 2.2 miles. We took that latter one. The hike was very refreshing. Cold and clean air breeze and cold mist from the falls awakened it. I mean it. One should experience this in their lifetime. I took many pictures that embarrassed our kids, which was a must.

Food at McDonald's
Due to Thanksgiving, most food places were closed, and we had to stop by Mcdonald's and grab something to eat to get charged up. Greeted everyone by saying Happy Thanksgiving. How is your day going? The crew at Mcdonald's was welcoming. I have never seen anyone this welcoming at any fast food place. They were polite and sincerely cared, which was a lovely part. They checked at our table to see if we needed something great.

The famous Rose Garden,
Though Roses were not in season then, there were quite a few rose buds. We saw a variety of colored flowers and their origin. Hint great place for a wedding venue.

Japanese Tea Garden
The Japanese Tea garden was right next to the rose garden. Unfortunately, it was closed, but whatever we saw was pretty and calming to the soul.

Portlandia statue
The next stop is Portlandia Statue. The good thing is everything is so close to each other that you don't get tired. It was a pleasant experience. We took pictures with the Statue, and the next stop was the world's smallest park, Mill end park. I will keep it a surprise for you. I got a little annoyed, but my daughter told me the story behind this, and it made sense.

Pittock Mansion
The following day after eating breakfast, we headed for Pittock mansion, it was raining, and we were prepared for that with an umbrella and Coat and stuff. View was amazing
Pittack Mansion was built in 1914, and it tells Portland's transformation story from being a pioneer town to a more modern and, I must say, urban Portland. There is a ticket to the mansion, but there is no charge to walk around the estate. We took lots of Pictures, will share here.

Old China town
The next stop was China town duet to holidays. Most of Chinatown was closed.

Powell Book store
It is the largest bookstore with new and used books in one platform. It was a vast bookstore, you could get almost any book on every topic, and it was crazy busy. There are multiple rooms and floors; I haven't seen anything like this. My kids were so excited that they each bought two books for them to read on the plane. This a must-see store in Portland

Voodoo Donuts
The company originated in Portland and is known for its weird flavors. As expected, the lines were long, and it was raining and cold. But we did it. Some popular flavors are dirt, Vudoo doll ( scary), oh captain my captain, and Marshall Mathers, to name a few. I love the store ambiance. It was different for me never been to a store like this in the past.

Mississippi Ave
The story behind Mississippi ave was tragic, and one of the store owners showed me pictures of how it looked some 30 years ago, and the transformation was terrific. Now the street has beautiful murals and fantastic artwork and is very welcoming to visitors. You can find houses in all colors, and even the trash cans have great artwork. And we found our mural Keep Portland weird. Woohoo.

Pioneer Square Christmas Tree Lightning
It is an annual Christmas tree lighting event that happens the day after Thanksgiving. So many people came to see it, there was great music, Christmas carols and local bands, lots of Christmas decorations and best of all it was drizzling a bit which made it gooier. I love the holiday season and how it makes everyone generous and caring. I adore it.

 Nobb Hill (Burmese restaurant)
The upscale area or Portland shops were great, and the atmosphere was excellent people were nice and friendly. We found a local Burmese restaurant. My kids and hubby Love it.

Salt and Straw
Portland-originating handmade ice cream store is a must, and they have very different flavors than most ice cream stores. I observed that Portland is a very family-oriented place. Folks were enjoying and having great times with their families. It was very heartwarming.

Last day in Portland
We went to see Portland Saturday Market, which was the best. You'll be amazed by how creative people are. There was so much talent. Oh my God, unbelievable, the weather was great, so we had a lot of fun. We bought homemade chocolate, so yummy.

Nike Headquarter
Visiting Nike's Corporate office was my Son's request, so we headed to Beaverton, a great and lovely neighborhood strategically built on a hill. Simply wow,

Next, we drove around Nobb hill to explore more. And we must stop at Stumptown Coffee to leave Portland. Delicious coffee, and best of all, it was ready-made with cream and sugar, which was a big plus for me. Honestly, I love this type of coffee. We got some souvenirs from stores nearby.
We headed to the airport—overall very budget-friendly trip.

Portland is weird but good, kind of weird. I am glad that I get to experience this with my family. Thank you, God, for making it happen.

Next on the bucket list is the Europe tour.
Ciao for now.
